Taking place in the early 12th century, the land of Da Chu faces the imminent threat of war, while the Imperial court is plagued by corruption and intricate schemes. The tyrannical Emperor and his unscrupulous accomplices conspire to assassinate Empress Yao Mo Xin – and their evil endeavors prove to be successful. Meanwhile, other malicious individuals pursue Yao Mo Wan, the younger sister of the Empress.

During a mysterious night, the deceased queen’s spirit possesses her younger sister’s body with the purpose of seeking vengeance against those who harmed and fatally poisoned her. Yao Mo Wan, now inhabiting the body of the Empress, joins the Imperial Court with a strong determination to exact revenge. In addition, she encounters (and develops romantic feelings for) Ye Jun Qing, a youthful prince from Da Chu.
